World Information: Etheria is a planet with twelve moons that produce all of its light and energy, as well as some of its magical properties. It has seven Kingdoms, each of which ruled by a Princess of Power with their own Runestone. Different species of people populate the planet. The Runestones give the Princesses access to stored power within the planet.
Etheria was once a part of a solar system and was a sister planet to Eternia, and Eternians migrated to the planet to research its magic. They became known as the First Ones, their tech left behind after an Eternian moved the planet into a starless dimension called Despondos. Portals opened on the planet on occasion, one bringing Hordak (who started an effort to take over the planet to impress his commanding officer and prove his worth) and one bringing Adora (a pure Eternian baby who could wield the power of She-Ra's Sword of Protection). There had been an escalating war going on between the Kingdoms and the Horde for many years.
At the time I would be pulling Entrapta from, the Horde that had once ruled the Fright Zone region of Etheria was no longer operating and Horde Prime (a long-standing threat to the planet) had been defeated. Etheria had been moved from Despondos back to the proper universe. Glimmer is the queen of all the collected Kingdoms and Entrapta has returned to her native Kingdom of Dryl with Hordak.
Personal History: https://she-raandtheprincessesofpower.fandom.com/wiki/Entrapta
Personality: OUTWARD
Entrapta is a stocky, fidgety woman on the shorter side. She often uses her hair to get around, frequently opting to touch things with her prehensile locks than actually put her hands on them. She also tends to get a little grimy with all of her work and it shows on her clothes. She wears coveralls and a fairly plain shirt, depending on very utilitarian clothing she can work in. She does have some vague sense of familiar fashion as comfort. When designing space-suits for everyone in Season 5, she allowed them tinted transparent gaps to represent the breaks in their usual clothing, ranging from Bow's midriff to her own collarbone. She will also improvise items when she needs to. When she no longer had her welding helmet on Beast Island, she used the chassis of a bug robot and made a new welding mask to protect her face. When she attended a formal event she didn't dress up, but rather took on an observational role hidden out of the way and took notes on the behavior of the guests.
Her voice is nasal and shrill, no effort made to make it more 'feminine'. But she's not particularly prone to vulgarities and being that she doesn't get angry often doesn't have reason to use them. She's blunt and assertive, willing to talk over authority figures without hesitation when she knows her input to the conversation is valid and important. She doesn't guard her speech in a way that's socially acceptable or conventional, whether it's using technical terms or blurting out potentially stinging or simply strange remarks she sees as 'facts'. She would readily share the lengths she would like to go to experiment with someone's powers. Sometimes she would offer to perform surgery or start asking to take venom samples. She would also say she likes the sound of a places she was just told to stay out of. This isn't done in indifference, but rather excitability and often she is probably meaning to be complimentary while discussing how fascinated with someone or an item. She's sharing her love of science as a special interest, not registering that she's offending/objectifying them or threatening them.
QUIRKS AND FEELINGS
She's mostly confident in herself. She knows she's intelligent and if asked to speak simply, she will dumb down things too much and sound condescending. The previously mentioned state of her clothing really shows that she's comfortable enough in her appearance she doesn't feel as though she has to impress anyone.
She has a strange quirk in loving tiny food, and prefers it over eating anything else. It's both small and easy to scarf down during experiments and it's small enough to make meals feel doable. Most of her castle (while she lived in Dryl and inhabited Crypto Castle) was patroled by and had a staff of robots. Only the kitchens, which made her tiny food, retained a human staff. She can make the food herself, though from the reaction of the person she made it for she probably isn't a great cook. She's even asked other people if they could make their food in smaller versions.
She's constructed Crypto Castle into a labyrinth, which is an entertaining thought exercise and personal project but she has distanced herself from her biological staff by using bots to do much of the work. Some places in her castle are actually unnavigable by anyone who isn't a robot or herself. She depends on other people to clean up after her as it's a low priority. Her work is the most important facet of her life, and everything revolves around it.
RELATIONSHIPS
She will basically befriend anyone that seems to want to keep her company, and it's very easy to convince her that someone is actually just pretending to be her friend/will give up on her. This made her easy to manipulate during the war with the Horde when Catra convinced her to stay in the Fright Zone by telling her she'd been abandoned. She happily switched then to trying to be friends with Scorpia and Catra. It was easy for her to believe she was disliked as it was to believe Scorpia and Catra actually did like her. And while Scorpia's attempts at friendship were genuine, Entrapta didn't need anything more than a word of interest to convince her they were on her side/her friends. She also didn't bear the Princesses any enormous grudge or vengeful desire for 'abandoning' her, but rather no longer considered their priorities her priorities. She started acting to make the Fright Zone friends happy, even when the results of such actions were catastrophic.
This wasn't sociopathy or a complete lack of empathy, but rather the scope of empathy is limited by autistic tendencies. She'll follow the ethical priorities applied to her by her current friend group rather than generating some sort of personal standard. She wants to use her special interest (SCIENCE) to build and maintain her friendships. She feels like the most solid path to friendship is being useful and interesting, and unlearning that inclination still takes work/is a long process.
Romance is a low priority for her but she ended up having feelings for Hordak after seeing some of their commonalities. In that case, all he had to do was something interesting and she put forth the drive and effort to maintain their friendship and to protect him/seek him out when he was in danger. He was also earnest with his emotions and wants, she was never confused by artificial niceties or passive-aggressive comments from him. Usually, she can't read those and some people find that frustrating about her. Hordak never gave her that issue. Eventually reaching him became her second goal beyond science.
When she was isolated on Beast Island, she actually went back to making robots to keep her company and practically thrived in isolation, making use of her time and minimal resources. In a world where time had broken after Catra opened a portal, she made robots that resembled Hordak and Scorpia. She would chase robots she saw scuttling around the Fright Zone, reprogram a battle bot to be friendly, hide her eyes when one of the robots she built was destroyed. Which Catra just said they'd make more, she always hated to see it happen. Noelle Stevenson said this of her:
What I think has always been [Entrapta's] strength is that, even if she might struggle with communicating her feelings or understanding other characters when they’re communicating their feelings to her, I think her strength as a character -- kind of her superpower -- is that she sees humanity in everything. Not just in humanoid or organic creatures, but she sees humanity in robots. She sees humanity in the AI that drives ships. She sees humanity in one clone in a million identical clones and knows their personality and knows who they are and knows how to connect with them... I think we see her make a lot of progress on that front, but then we also see her. I think she does more than almost any other character in humanizing characters who have never been humanized before by anyone. For the most part, she's difficult to insult. Even if she understands it as an insult, normally she can dismiss it as something said by someone angry and not in their right mind. One has to be particularly aggressive and ruthless with a put-down before it affects her, usually something related to her being a failure or a disappointment, and when it does it sucks all the energy out of her and she withdraws into herself. She wants to be well-liked and respected. Being a good friend is tertiary to being a good person.
She will do what she can to help her friends because people hurting are much easier to comprehend on a smaller level than on a wide scale. She favors the practical benefits of the world generally being a better place where people are safer, and that convinces her to make better decisions.
Key themes:
Main Motivation: SCIENCE. Learning, discovering, using it to improve and maintain her friendships. She tells Hordak at one point "Imperfection is what makes scientific experimentation possible! Imperfection is beautiful."
Skills:
Item: Her personal tech scanner. It doesn't do anything exceptional besides help her identify small issues in devices she might need to fix.
